Emergency Ambulance Service provides ambulance demonstration for Brea preschoolers
BREA, California - April 25, 2002 - At the invitation
of Brea Head Start, Emergency Ambulance Service (Emergency) provided ambulance
demonstrations for over seventy preschool aged children in Brea on Thursday,
April 25, 2002.
"The children were extremely excited that Emergency
brought out their ambulance," said Program Director Deborah Wegenka. "Ambulance workers are true heroes in
our society. Your employees were
instrumental in helping the children understand that they shouldn't be afraid
of the persons who care for them."
"The idea of teaching our children at a very early age
what an ambulance is like certainly reduces their fears. Our education program is vital to our
community," said Tyler Shook an Emergency Medical Technician working for
Emergency.
"After today's presentation, we have 70 potential
future employees. The fundamental
impression these children gain may stir up their interest in joining the
ambulance profession down the line," said Al Requejo, Emergency's human
resource director.
"Our public education program gives our young people an
inside look on how Emergency Ambulance Service operates. It teaches them what happens when 9-1-1 is
dialed, who responds, and how they get to the hospital. It also teaches them to trust and respect
emergency personnel," said Phil Davis, Emergency's President & CEO.
