FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Brea, California - March 31, 2003 - Emergency Ambulance Service, Inc. (Emergency) announced today that it has been awarded a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) for meeting and exceeding national ambulance industry standards of excellence.
This accreditation includes the Emergency's operations in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Diego counties.
The accreditation process is a comprehensive application and on-site review by national experts in emergency medical services to determine if an ambulance provider meets or exceeds national standards set by CAAS. Bruce Plannette, Emergency's Director of Quality Performance and Business Systems Analysis oversaw the accreditation process.
This "gold standard" has been determined by the ambulance industry to be essential in a modern emergency medical service provider.
The standards set by CAAS exceed most of those established by state or local regulation and Emergency is one of 86 CAAS accreditated ambulance providers in the nation. Aside from Emergency, there are only four other ambulance providers in California which have qualified for this prestigious rating.
" We are very proud of the services we provide, and we are pleased to receive CAAS accreditation," said Jim Karras, Emergency's General Manager. "Our clientele can rest assured that first-rate service and care make up our operation."
CAAS is a non-profit organization, which was established to encourage and promote quality patient care in America's medical transportation system. CAAS standards include patient care, internal operations, administration, and relationships with other agencies, the public, and the medical community.
The American Ambulance Association, American College of Emergency Physicians, National Association of EMS Physicians, National Association of State EMS Directors, National Association of EMT's, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs sponsor the organization.
Karras continued, "We are fully committed to the people we serve. Being a vital part of the emergency medical service community and maintaining a standard of excellence is very important to us. On behalf of the Company, I also congratulate our employees for their superior dedication to the patients we serve."
Family-owned and operated since 1977, Emergency Ambulance Service, Inc. has 14 ambulance deployment centers located throughout southern California. Emergency provides Emergency Basic Life Support and Nurse-Staffed Critical Care Transportation in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties; and Advanced Life Support ambulance service throughout Los Angeles County. The company also provides 911 primary emergency ambulance services to six of the cities it operates in, as well as providing back up 911 service to several surrounding communities.
