Emergency Ambulance Service Names David Ybarra Director of Business Development for its new Los Angeles Division
BREA, California - January 4, 2000 - Emergency Ambulance Service (Emergency) has selected David Ybarra as its Director of Business Development. Ybarra will oversee expansion activities in the Company’s newly formed Los Angeles Division. He will also play a major role in obtaining ambulance licensing for the company through the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation and its Board of Transportation Commissioners. Ybarra brings more than 35 years of ambulance industry knowledge to the company, including noteworthy experience with Schaefer Ambulance Service of Los Angeles and other Los Angeles County providers.

In his three plus decades within the industry, Ybarra has earned a reputation as an expert on the City of Los Angeles. Actively involved in obtaining city business licenses, Ybarra has acquired licensure for several area ambulance providers.
Ybarra began his career in the industry in 1965 as an ambulance attendant with Schaefer’s Ambulance Service in Los Angeles. In 1970, Mr. Ybarra left Schafer’s to accept a position with the County of Los Angeles as an ambulance driver with its department of health services. In 1980, Ybarra reentered the private ambulance business as a dispatch supervisor with Schafer and in 1986; he was promoted to division manager and assistant to the president.
Following eight years with Schafer, Ybarra took as position as manager of Foundation Health Plan’s newly formed ambulance service division. In 1990, the division was sold and Ybarra moved on to United Health Enterprises of Los Angeles. After a two-year stay at United, Ybarra took a position with APT Ambulance of Los Angeles, where he acted as the company’s administrative manager for one year. In 1994, Ybarra returned to Schaefer’s where he resumed his former responsibilities as assistant to the president.
In 1996, Ybarra was presented with and accepted an opportunity to become director of governmental affairs for the Bowers Companies in Long Beach. Ybarra stayed with the company until 1998, when he joined the staff of Americare Ambulance of Harbor City as administrator and director of business development.

Ybarra holds an associate of arts degree from Los Angeles Harbor College and Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Southern California.
Family-owned and operated since 1977, Emergency Ambulance Service, Inc. has seven ambulance deployment centers located throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Emergency provides Emergency Basic Life Support and Nurse-Staffed Critical Care Transportation throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties.
