Seal of Approval Given to Emergency Ambulance Service Paramedic Program

BREA, California - September 22, 2000 - Emergency Ambulance Service (Emergency) was granted permission today by the County of Los Angeles to provide paramedic service throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Emergency will provide the service with mobile intensive care ambulances with advanced life-support equipment on-board and staffed by paramedics.

Almost nine months after Emergency decided to add the extra level of service, the company will begin paramedic service in Los Angeles County under an agreement with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.

“This is something that is long overdue, and I’m glad that we finally found a way to get this done to offer the full service to the citizens of Los Angeles County,” General Manager Jim Karras said.

The extra level of service means that Emergency can treat patients with drugs and do more to help persons with serious medical conditions.

Before, Emergency Ambulance Service was only certified to provide Emergency Medical Technician and Nurse Staffed Critical Care Transport levels of service in Los Angeles.  Now the company is licensed at all levels.

“Emergency Ambulance Service is always trying to improve patient care,” said Laura Finn, RN, RCP, Emergency’s Director of Quality Clinical Services. “We’re proud to participate in this program which will have a positive impact on patient care in L.A. County.”

Family-owned and operated since 1977, Emergency Ambulance Service, Inc. has eight ambulance deployment centers located throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties.  Emergency provides Emergency Basic Life Support and Nurse-Staffed Critical Care Transportation in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.  The company also provides 911 primary emergency ambulance services to five of the cities it operates in, as well as providing back up 911 service to several surrounding communities.
